Slovak Christmas going vegan

Slovak Christmas going vegan

Although Christmas is celebrated all around the world, every country celebrates it with its own traditions and the same goes for food. In Slovakia, there are several dishes that cannot be missing on the Christmas table. Maybe the most famous one is kapustnica - a sour cabbage soup with pork or sausages often served as the first dish. Then comes fried fish with potato salad composed of mayonnaise, eggs, peas and carrots. And what about a dessert? Definitely gingerbread cookies with honey! Now, if we look at the ingredients of these traditional dishes, we can find meat, dairy products and honey. Well, nothing for a vegan! That however, doesn't mean vegans cannot enjoy the traditional taste of a Slovak Christmas. Nikoleta Kováčová will tell us more.
