The Thursday ahead of Easter is named green Thursday in Slovak tradition. The tradition rules us to eat something green like spinach, peas or green onion. Fasting season stretches up to Easter Sunday. Meanwhile, Slovaks take whicker baskets with smoked ham, smoked sausages, eggs and special bread to churches to be blessed by the priest. As soon as Easter Sunday starts, we start eating. Not the healthy green stuff anymore, as you can hear in the interview with researcher Katarina Soltys from the Commenius University in Bratislava.
Do you have guts for Green Thursday
