Occupation through the eyes of occupants

Occupation through the eyes of occupants

On the night of August 20-21, 1968, five Warsaw Pact countries (the Soviet Union, Poland, Bulgaria, East Germany and Hungary) launched a joint invasion of Czechoslovakia. The occupation cost lives of at least 108 people while hundreds were injured. It successfully stopped the democratisation process in the country known as the Prague Spring. In 2018, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the invasion, the Slovak documentary filmmaker and producer Peter Kerekes presented an interesting project: the occupation through the eyes of the occupants.
