At the end of March, a group of researchers from the Institute of Sociology and the Institute for Research in Social Communication of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with the MNFORCE and Seesame agencies, conducted a survey on the reactions of residents in Slovakia towards the current coronavirus epidemic and the restrictive measures introduced in order to slowdown the spread of the disease. Called "How are you, Slovakia?" the survey had some interesting results. Based on data from this survey, residents in Slovakia seem eager to comply with the new rules introduced, such wearing face masks or having their body temperature measured, even if real experts do not agree on the effectiveness of the measures, and in spite of the fact that politicians who like to brag about being an example do exactly what is not recommended, eg. touch their masks with their (dirty) hands. Anca Dragu asked social psychologist Barbara Lašticova, one of the researchers involved - why is this so?
