Young Slovak reporters bringing a real change to the environment

Young Reporters for the Environment is an international education program for young people between the age of 11 and 25 coordinated by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and Slovakia has been participating in it since 2009. In the annual YRE international competition, Slovak participants have been among the most successful. What stands behind their success and what actual change to the environment have these stories, photos and videos brought? This year, almost 60 different stories, photographs and videos from young Slovak reporters competed in the national round of the YRE competition.

However, only a few entries will represent Slovakia at the YRE international competition which will take place in September 2020. One of them is a photograph called Na love or Out huntin' taken by Adriána Henčeková.

According to the YRE national coordinator for Slovakia Richard Medal, the programme encourages students to base their entries on the principles of solution journalism. Moreover,in some cases, even the reporters themselves are part of the solution.
