Lawyer Zuzana Brixová, a former legal expert for the organisation of Slovak Catholic Bishops who has been also active in pro-life NGOs, will become the new head of the Gender and Equal Opportunity Department at the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Ministry as of August 1, the ministry announced on Monday. She is due to replace Olga Pietruchová, who resigned in May following differences of opinion with conservative Labour Minister Milan Krajniak (We Are Family). The department is in charge of designing policies in the area of equal opportunity for women and men on the labour market and in social protection, including for victims of domestic violence.
