Remembering Marina Pauliny

Remembering Marina Pauliny

Listen to the story of a gentle, hard-working, good natured and well educated woman, who was active in the Czechoslovak WW2 resistance in exile - Marina Pauliny. On 5th October 2020, we marked the 75th anniversary of her tragic death. She died in a plane crash, when repatriating from England after the war. The story of Marina Pauliny's active life is being retold by her great-niece, Mrs. Zuzana Francová.

Earlier this year, in March 2020, our colleague Zuzana Botiková visited Marína Paulíny's final resting place at Brookwood cemetery near London, where she also met members of the Memorial Association for Free Czechoslovak Veterans. On the occasion of the sad anniversary, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in London restored her memorial and published several historical materials in Slovak and English on its website.

The Slovak Embassy in London, lead by HE Ľubomír Rehák (centre), commissioned a restoration of Marina Pauliny's grave in Brookwood. Her final resting place is covered by stone chippings from her birthplace in Slovenské Pravno.
