On 1 November, All Saints' Day is celebrated in Slovakia, followed by All Souls' Day. During this period, many people travel around the country in order to bring flowers and light candles on the graves of the deceased. Although majority of these graves are made of heavy stone and can be found in traditional cemeteries, some of them are marked only by small signs carefully placed under a tree or in a flowerbed growing at a natural cemetery.
In Slovakia, the first natural cemetery called Záhrada spomienok or Garden of Memories was created in 2017. Romana Grajcarová spoke to its founder and environmentalist Andrea Uherková.
