Did you know there are people who don't speak Slovak and have never visited Slovakia and yet, they feel like Slovaks? Well, sometimes it is the traditions passed from one generation to another that nourish the sense of belonging to a particular nation.
The work of Zuzana Palovic and Gabriela Bereghazyova focuses on strengthening ties between Slovakia and the international community of Slovak expats and their descendants. They have already published several publications, each one presenting Slovakia from a different angle. In the following interview, we will discuss their most recent book co-written by history teacher David Keys and we will also look at some reasons why Slovaks tend to leave Slovakia.
