The long-awaited Tourist Atlas of Slovakia that was re-issued after 16 years has a scale of 1:50 000 and is designed to enable quicker and more accurate planning of trips across Slovakia. For the first time the atlas also contains English translations. Well, maps in fact are quite a universal form of understanding one’s surroundings, with or without knowing the language. Zuzana Botiková visited the Slovak Museum of Maps near the town of Banská Bystrica and spoke about the atlas with the museum’s curator, Andrea Farkašová.
