The Slovak Republic came 20th in the world in its level of English language skills. It is 5 ranks better in a year-on-year comparison. This is the result of the 2021 English Proficiency Index ranking 112 countries and regions by their English skills. Based on tests performed by 2 million people, Slovakia came ahead of the Czech Republic, France, India, Spain or Switzerland among others. English language skills in the country are of high proficiency level meaning that an average Slovak has no problems with preparing an expert presentation, watching TV or reading newspapers in English.
