The 9th of May – is Europe Day. It commemorates the signing of the Schuman Declaration on 9 May 1950. An ambitious plan to secure long-term peace in post-war Europe that is considered the beginning of the European Union. Why is it important? And what challenges await Europeans in the coming years? It is also celebrated in Slovakia's largest cities (Bratislava, Košice). Marianna Palková spoke to Robert Sermek, Head of the European Parliament Office in Slovakia, about the event in Slovakia. Stephen Clark, Director of the European Parliament Liaison Offices, talks more about the history and the current mood and challenges in Europe.
