Celebrated on 24 August, the Independence Day of Ukraine is the main state holiday in modern Ukraine. Since 24 February this year, Ukraine has been fighting for its independence against Russian aggression. "Hope for Ukraine" is a series of cultural performances that launched one day prior to Ukraine’s Independence Day in the Slovak capital Bratislava. Zuzana Botiková spoke about it with Michael Jacobsen from the Centre for Future Europe, organizer of the event.

Artist Pedro Nunes painted whilst the Kharkiv orchestra played.
"I believe the pieces will be splashed with musical notes; they will travel and turn into colours, shapes, lines and thoughts”,
said the artist, who will make five more paintings within the "Hope for Ukraine" project.
