We celebrate this year’s International Romani Day interviewing Romani craftsmen from Slovakia. Dušan Barkóci, a basket weaver from Brodské, introduces his art and long family tradition of basket weaving. Štefan Rác and his granddaughter Barbora Rácova talk about their family tradition of artistic smithing and Robert Rigó, an artistic smith from Dunajská Lužná, walks us through the history of the village and its connection to the Romani minority in Slovakia. The interviews are accompanied by music produced by František Godla, a Romani perfomer and teacher of classical guitar, that he composed for a radio play Queen of Water in 2017.
