Martin Posch is a researcher from the Institute of History at the Slovak Academy of Sciences who is also working at the Holocaust Documentation Centre in Bratislava. His main research topic is the cooperation between British and Czechoslovak secret services. On the occasion of the Victory in Europe day, he explains to foreigners the reasons behind the different narratives related to the Slovak National Uprising in the course of the past 80 years.

29 August, 2024, marks 80 years since the outbreak of the Slovak National Uprising that placed Slovakia on the victorious side of WWII. This sentence used by historians in 2024, however, has its history too. The Slovak Academy of Sciences expert gives an overall insight into the changes the narratives linked to the insurgence since 1945 about which even many Slovaks have no clue.
