Slovak tennis player Martin Kližan won the ATP tennis tournament in Rotterdam on Sunday after defeating France's Gael Monfils in three sets 6-7, 6-3,6-1. This is the 4th singles title of his professional career, and the most prestigious so far.
"I dreamt that I would have my name and the flag in the Rotterdam stadium. In sport and tennis, there's the rule of "never say never". Any match must be fought to the last ball, and I am the living example that it can be applied even against the best players in the world. This is my first success with a new coach so I am looking forward to the next tournament in Dubai. Thank you to my stable fans who believed in me and cheered for me. This has been the best result in my career so far. I'm very, very proud of it. Also in our country, maybe I can be a motivation for the young players. I'm very happy for that. I wish them to be steadfast and have strong will," said Kližan who will climb to no 27 in the world rankings, only 3 positions lower that his career maximum.
