Hammer-time in Rio

The hammer throw competitions at the Summer Olympics in Rio were definitely interesting to follow. While in the women's competition Aneta Włodarczyk from Poland conquered the world record with 82.29 metres, the men's competitions brought surprises too. First it was that Poland's two-time world champion Pavel Fajdek, who had an unbeaten streak of 29 competitions, yet failed to progress to the finals. The men's competition was won by Dilshod Nazarov from Tajikistan, who won his country's first ever Olympic gold. Slovakia's Marcel Lomnický ended 5th and he got a taste of the Olympic finals and reaching for the medal. Perhaps a future promise for the Olympics in Tokyo 2020?
