On Monday (April 3) the National Hockey League representatives announced that the NHL will not participate in the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. This decision ends a run of five consecutive Winter Olympics with the world's best players. According to the NHL's press release, the league took its decision not to go to PyeongChang because so far they didn't see any objective evidence of the Olympics have a positive impact on the business or on sport. At the moment there are 13 hockey-players from Slovakia playing in the NHL, therefore Slovak fans as well as Olympic officials are saddened they won't see them playing for the national jersey under the five Olympic rings.
