The 11.6 km route from under Devín Castle to the centre of Bratislava was run for the first time on April 24, 1921. 37 runners were greeted at the finish line by nearly 15,000 spectators. After that, the distance between Devín and Bratislava was run 69 more times. Its 70th edition attracted almost 7,000 runners, including some colleagues from Radio & Television Slovakia. What makes this athletic event so significant? Well, besides other things, it is also perhaps one of the only races where the organisers first have to transport all the participants from the finish line to the starting point so that they can run back.
