In their first match at the 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship, Slovaks defeated favourites from the USA 4:1. The match took place in front of a mesmerizing atmosphere of a sold-out arena in Košice. Sukeľ, Černák, Tatar and Krištof scored for Slovakia, while the sole goal for Team USA was scored by DeBrincat. On Saturday, Slovaks face Finland, who defeated Canada 3:1 in their first match.
