In this special feature we will discuss the nationalist tensions in football, such as those stirred at the EURO 2020 qualification match between Slovakia and Hungary, played on 9th September 2019 in Budapest. Slovakia may have won the match, but the stadium incident has now stretched beyond the football grounds and has even entered the diplomatic sphere. In reaction to the events in Budapest, which went way beyond the notion of a sports event, the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry summoned Tibor Pető, the Hungarian Ambassador to Slovakia.
