On December 1, Petra Vlhová, together with five more people from the board and 46 sports clubs, left the Slovak Skiing Association. By doing so, they responded to long-term problems in the institution. According to Jana Palovičová, from the alpine skiing section of the association, an absolute majority of skiing clubs, which represent almost 40% of the association's membership base, terminated membership. This means a total of 46 sports clubs, which bring together 1,317 members. The dispute between the skiers and the association has been dragging on for years now. Their conflict concerns mostly the division of finances to the individual sections within the association. This week, the Education Ministry revoked its status as a national sport association. The Slovak alpine skiers will be registered directly under FIS as a group.
