Artistic gymnast Barbora Mokošová won the first medal at the women's European Championships for Slovakia in history. In Mersin, Turkey, Mokošová won a bronze medal in the uneven bars discipline with 13.300 points behind Hungarians Zsofia Kovács (13.850) and Zoja Székely (13.550). The SME daily wrote, that the Slovak took advantage of the fact that the stronger national teams did not take part, however, based on the earned points, her performance was at a top European level. "Twenty years of preparation proved to be worth it. I truly want to thank all, who stood next to me; my entire team, I would not have been here without them. I am extremely glad that we have the medal at home", said the 23-year old Mokošová for RTVS.
