The top Slovak biathlon athletes, sisters Paulina and Ivona Fialkova, cancelled their participation in the ongoing World Cup after several weak results. As they informed, the reason is they both suffered from COVID-19 in November and still are not fit enough for top level performance. Both missed out the IBU World Cup season opening in Kontiolahti, Finland, due to some members of their team having tested positive in their training camp in Sweden. Only after both sisters took part in the IBU World Cup in Oberhof, Germany, last weekend, they broke the secret over them both having recovered from COVID-19.
