On Thursday, the Slovak ice hockey team lost against Switzerland 1:8 at the 2021 World Championship in Riga, Latvia. Thus, Slovakia lost its first match at the tournament after winning the first three games against Belarus, Great Britain and the Russian Olympic team. In spite of the loss, Slovaks remained first in their A group, tied with Switzerland and the Russian Olympic team, all with nine points.
