With Sunday's loss against Sweden 1:3, the Slovak ice hockey team missed its first chance to secure a spot in the quarterfinals at the 2021 Ice Hockey World Championship in Riga, Latvia. In order to advance based on its own performance, Slovakia needs to earn at least one point in their last game against the Czech Republic. Slovaks will not need even one point in the following situations:
- if Czechia loses against Denmark in regular time.
- if Russia earns at least one point against Sweden.
Otherwise, Slovakia would need a more complex combination of favourable results of their opponents.
