Altogether 50 athletes will represent Slovakia at the Olympic Winter Games that started on Friday in Beijing. The top star of the Slovak team is skier Petra Vlhova. Slovakia made its debut at the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in 1994 and has competed in all Olympic Games since. The first Gold Medallist at the winter games was Anastasia Kuzmina, winning the 7.5km biathlon sprint in 2010. Anastasia Kuzmina has become the winter sports athlete with the most gold medals won for Slovakia. Overall, Slovaks have won 40 Olympic medals, be it at summer or winter games, including 13 gold medals.
