The Slovak national ice-hockey team has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Olympic tournament in Beijing. In Tuesday's qualifying match they beat Germany 4:0 and after twelve years they made it among the top eight at the Olympic Games. They will face the USA in the semi-finals on Wednesday. Team choached by Craig Ramsay had the upper hand from the start of the match at the National Indoor Stadium. They took the lead in the 12th minute thanks to Libor Hudáček, in the second period Peter Cehlárik and Michal Krištof increased the lead to 3:0. The Germans were unable to beat Patrik Rybar in the Slovak goal even once. At the very end Marek Hrivík sealed the result with a goal into an empty net.
