Slovak hockey players returned home on Wednesday after the World Championship in Riga, where they finished 9th. Canadian coach Craig Ramsay, who has an extension in his contract for another year, has not yet confirmed whether he will remain at the helm of the team next season.

The Slovak national hockey team has played in five championships under Ramsay. In 2018 and 2019, they finished outside the top eight. The Canadian coach does not know if he will continue with the team.

The Slovaks have played seven games, notching three wins and four losses. They earned 11 points in the Group B table, which was only good enough for a non-advancing 5th place. The average age of the team at this year's World Championship was 26 years. Eight players were given their first chance at the top tournament this year.
