Slovan Bratislava failed to win their first match of the third qualifying round of the Champions League. They lost 2-1 to Israeli team Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday. The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday 15 August in Haifa. All the goals were scored in the first half. The visitors took the lead through Frantzdy Pierrot in the 5th minute and Juraj Kucka equalised in the 12th minute. Haifa won the game three minutes later through Diaa Sabia. The winner of the double-header will face Young Boys Bern in the CL play-offs, while the loser will meet either Raków Częstochowa or Aris Limassol in the Europa League play-offs.
