Slovak runner wins silver in Rome

Slovak athlete Gabriela Gajanová won the silver medal in the 800 m at the European Championships in Rome on Wednesday. Gajanova is the first Slovak to win a silver medal at the event since 2018, when Matej Toth finished second in his 50m walk. Gajanova, who will compete at the Olympic Games in Paris in just a few weeks, finished her race only one centisecond behind her personal record, which she set last September in Bellinzona, Switzerland.
