Water slalom athletes Jakub Grigar and Zuzana Paňková will carry Slovakia's flag at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSC) announced on Thursday. The ceremony will take place on the Seine River and conclude at Trocadero Square in front of the Eiffel Tower. This tradition of having a male and female flag bearer began at the Tokyo Olympics, where Slovakia's flag was carried by shooter Zuzana Rehák Štefečeková and water slalom racer Matej Beňuš.
Paňková will be the youngest Slovak flag bearer, taking on the role just before her 20th birthday.
