ŠK Slovan Bratislava won the opening match of the 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League against APOEL Nicosia 2:0 thanks to an own goal by Serbian stopper Radosav Petrovic in the 74th minute and an accurate goal by substitute Róbert Mak in extra time. The reigning Slovak champion thus put themselves in a good position for the return leg, which will be played in Cyprus on Tuesday 13 August at 19.00 CEST.
In case of progression, Slovan will play the winner of FC Midtjylland - Ferencváros Budapest (first match 2:0) in the LM play-off. If they are eliminated, the winner of the UE Santa Coloma - FC RFS double-header will face them in the Europa League play-offs.
