Ľubomír Višňovský became the 38th member of the Slovak Hockey Hall of Fame during the Hockey Player of the Year gala at Bratislava Castle. The 48-year-old former defenseman was honoured as the only 2024 inductee and he expressed pride in joining Slovak hockey legends.
Višňovský, who debuted in major hockey with Slovan Bratislava in 1994, was a key figure in Slovakia's national team, winning silver, gold, and bronze in the World Championships. He played 141 matches for Slovakia, scoring 18 goals. In the NHL, he played 883 regular-season games, mainly with the Los Angeles Kings, and later with Edmonton, Anaheim, and the New York Islanders. He also played in the KHL and won three Slovak championship titles.
Juraj Slafkovský has also been awarded as Slovak Hockey Player of the Year 2024, making it his second win in this category. He also received accolades for Best Forward and Best Player Under 20.
