Slovan loses in Champions League

SK Slovan Bratislava footballers recorded their third loss in the main phase of the Champions League 2024/25. After losing to Celtic Glasgow (1:5) and Manchester City (0:4), the ‘Belasi’ lost 0:2 to home team Girona in the third round of the league stage. Their next match is at home on November 5 against Dinamo Zagreb.

As expected, the Spanish team dominated the game with the ball from the start. Slovan defended in a deep block and in the 42nd minute conceded  a goal by Miguel Gutierrez. The victory of the home team was confirmed in the 73rd minute from a free kick by defender Juanpe. In the 88th minute, the visitors' goalkeeper Dominik Takáč shone when he neutralized the penalty kick of the home captain Christhian Stuani.

The reigning Slovak champion will next appear in the most prestigious club competition on November 5 at home against Dinamo Zagreb. Subsequently, on November 26, AC Milan will be welcomed at Tehelno polí. In this calendar year, they will also visit the grounds of Atletico Madrid (December 11). Next year, they will meet at home with VfB Stuttgart (January 21), eight days later they will face Bayern Munich.
