The start of the upcoming FIS World Cup season

Tomorrow marks the official start of the 2024 FIS Ski World Cup season, starting with the Women's Giant Slalom on Saturday, October 26, and the Men's Giant Slalom on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Festivities begin on Friday evening with the women's bib draw and a World Cup party, while Saturday will feature two exciting runs for the women, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., followed by a fan parade and award ceremony in the evening. Petra Vlhova will not participate in the opening races of the Alpine Ski World Cup season in Sölden. She is still recovering from right knee surgery, which she underwent earlier this year after injuring herself in January during a World Cup race. Vlhova has announced that she will miss both the women's giant slalom on Saturday and the men's race on Sunday, as well as additional events in November. Sunday’s men’s Giant Slalom follows a similar schedule, with runs at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., concluding with the men’s award presentation on the glacier. Both Adam and Andreas Žampa are set to participate in the Ski World Cup season opener in Sölden this weekend.  Fans can enjoy live entertainment, music, and the unique high-altitude atmosphere of Sölden throughout the weekend.
