Slovakia has initiated consultations with Hungary on the possibility of creating a network of sports infrastructure that could be used in Hungary's possible bid to host the Summer Olympic Games either in 2036 or 2040, Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Andrej Danko and Sport and Tourism Minister Dusan Keketi (an SNS nominee) said at a press conference on Saturday.
They stressed, however, that the aim of the talks is not a joint candidacy. "The consultations concern the existing and potential new sports infrastructure that would be usable for the organisation of the Olympic Games and that would also be sustainable," Danko claimed, adding that Slovakia and Hungary are discussing several Slovak sports venues, including the national football stadium in Bratislava.
