Slovan loses in Champions League

The football players of Slovan Bratislava lost 1:4 to Dinamo Zagreb in Tuesday's match of the 4th round of the basic phase of the Champions League. In the incomplete table, they are still in last place without a point. The Belasi‘s next match in the Champions League is on November 26 against AC Milan.

Slovan took the lead for the first time in the most prestigious competition after a goal by David Strelec, but the lead only lasted five minutes. They went to the locker room with a score of 1:2 and after some initial pressure conceded two more goals. In the standings they have a goal differential of 2:15 and are still among the six teams without a point.

The reigning Slovak champion had to make do without several players, including midfielder Juraj Kucka and defender Kevin Wimmer. Absences also plagued the guests, who were missing goalkeeper Ivan Nevistič and key forward Bruno Petkovič. Nevertheless, they were able to confirm their role as favourites, win for the second time in this year's LM and, with seven points, come significantly closer to the next round.

In this calendar year, Slovan will also face Atletico Madrid (December 11). Next year, they will meet at home with VfB Stuttgart (January 21), eight days later they will face Bayern Munich.
