Slovan Bratislava loses to AC Milan in Champions League

Slovan Bratislava lost to AC Milan 2:3 in Tuesday's match of the 5th round of the Champions League's basic phase. They are still in last place in the incomplete table without a point. The "Belasi" will have their next match in the most prestigious club competition on December 11 at Atletico Madrid.

Slovan presented a clear intention to wait for counterattacks in the first half. The guests played statically on the offensive, without any inspiration, and they also lost a ball which could have threatened Slovan.

David Strelec missed a great opportunity in the 15th minute, his attempt was thwarted by defender Strahinja Pavlovič on the goal line. On the other side, Christian Pulisic opened the scoring, but a good first half from the "Belasi" was rewared with a goal by the most active man on the pitch, Tigran Barseghjan.

After the change of sides, the pace dropped, but the "rossoneri" brought out their big offensive weapon Rafael Leao. The Portuguese winger scored in the 68th minute and Tammy Abraham made it 3:1 for the guests less than three minutes later. Hope for a historic point was raised in the 88th minute with a great shot from behind the penalty area by 19-year-old Nino Marcelli, but it was too late for the Slovak champion.

This calendar year, Slovan still has a duel at Atletico Madrid (December 11). Next year, they will meet at home with VfB Stuttgart (January 21), and eight days later they will face Bayern Munich.
