At the weekend alpine skiers bade farewell to this season. Slovakia's Veronika Velez-Zuzulova did so in great fashion with a bronze in the slalom race in Meribel in France on Saturday, the 19th World Cup podium position in her career.
"After the exit from the flat section I had quite a good feeling and I knew that if I wanted to finish the season with a good performance then I had to go down all the way. Luckily it worked out. Although I am not so sensitive to the slopes anymore, this one here was not as easy as it might have seemed at first sight, „ said Zuzulova who has finished the season ranked six in the world in slalom despite a start marked by injuries. She did not finish the first two important races of the season but then managed to finish 5th in January in Flachau and 4th at the World Championships.
„Those results were a boost to my self-confidence because I have proved to myself that I can compete at a high level with the best skiers again. I am looking forward to the next season already," concluded Veronika Velez-Zuzulova adding that she is looking forward to competing on the home slope in Jasna which next year returns to the World Cup stage after many years.
