Starting from Monday until further notice, high schools in Slovakia are switching to remote education as part of the measures aimed to stop the spread of the COVID-19 disease. Moreover, after-school activities at elementary schools as well as other out-of-school activities for elementary school pupils will not be organised either. However, kindergartens and elementary schools continue to function in a standard regime. Since data from the first wave of the anti-pandemic school closures showed that a large number of children were left without access to education because they had neither a computer, nor any Internet connection, the Banská Bystrica region asked people to donate their old laptops.
