Large turnout at the pilot mass-testing event on Friday

About a third of all those who needed to get tested in the pilot phase of the mass-testing event in four districts in Northern Slovakia were tested on Friday, the first day of the event that lasts until the end of the weekend. Out of 61,905 people 2,225 had a positive test result. Some of them may take a PCR test to confirm their antigen test result so the number may change in the following days. The process was marked by a few issues such as missing certificates and healthcare personnel that delayed the start at some centres.

As of Saturday people in the districts of Námestovo, Tvrdošín, Dolný Kubín and Bardejov where the pilot phase takes place are asked to prove they have a negative PCR test or antigen test result in order to move freely (with the exception of trips to the testing center, to buy groceries or visit a doctor). It must not be older than October 23rd.

The planned mass-testing event for coronavirus all over Slovakia will take place according to schedule in the weekends of October 30th - November 1st and November 6th-8th, when all inhabitants aged between 10 and 65 are asked to take part, foreigners included. After the first weekend of testing, only those who can show a negative test result - be it from the mass-testing or from a private lab on demand - can move freely.
