On Thursday, 5 October, from 7 AM, Slovakia will start checks at the border with Hungary. The checks will last until 14 October.
As Deputy Minister of Interior Ministry, Martin Kralovic, said, the checks will be random.
“We are deploying police and cooperating with the Slovak Armed Forces to control the border with Hungary.”
Prime Minister Ludovit Odor claims that he still does not see border controls as a solution to the migration situation in the EU.
“We will address it further where uncomfortable situations arise. If we do not want to say goodbye to Schengen, the EU should allocate more money to this issue.”
Migration is also expected to be the topic of an informal European Union summit in Granada, Spain, which the PM will attend on Friday (6 October).
