Gov’t wants to deregulate construction

The opposition is worried about proposed changes to laws on construction, urban planning and environmental impact assessment. Preparatory works could be carried out on citizens' land without their consent, said Michal Truban of the PS party: "If your land is in an area designated by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) of the Slovak Republic as a strategic investment, the investor can come there immediately to do preparatory work," added Truban. Another problem, according to him, is that when it comes to strategic investment, it is not possible to appeal against the expropriation decision.

Last week, the government proposed to relax and decentralize rules on public procurement.
