The head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office used the last day of his office to list its achievements.
The Special Prosecutor's Office supervised the most serious criminal cases, he said. “Corruption, organised crime, terrorism, extremism, EU fund fraud, the most serious economic crime, and in the last three and a half years these cases have also led to the highest floors of public life, business and the judiciary. This is probably the main reason for the express abolition of the special prosecutor's office," Lipšic said.

In the independent history of Slovakia, 58 life sentences have been imposed, and half of them in cases led by the special prosecutor's office. The office solved 400 cases of murder or premeditated murder, he said.
Prosecutor Ján Šanta from the Economic Crime Department recounted the fight against VAT fraud.
He was talking about the successful fight against non-banking entities or criminal groups based on VAT fraud. "There is not the slightest reason to abolish this office,” he said.
Most prosecutors will be reassigned within the General Prosecutor’s Office, or regional offices. Cases where an indictment has been filed or where there is a proposal to file an indictment should continue to remain with the current prosecutors.
On the last day of the office, some new indictments were issued.
Prosecutor Lucia Bizoňová of the Special Prosecutor's Office said at the press conference on Tuesday that she filed the charges five days earlier.
“Five persons have been indicted in the case. Three persons were in the executive committee of the National Property Fund, and subsequently the joint stock company that was its successor," she said.
She said the five people, among them a former minister and a prominent financier, caused damages of approximately 70 million euros to the State. The cases will now be handled by the regional prosecutor’s offices.
