Wishes to Pellegrini from abroad

Peter Pellegrini won the presidential election at the weekend. The voter-turnout reached 61.14 percent.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Sunday wished Peter Pellegrini success in his new duties and is looking forward to working together on the important challenges that the European Union and Slovakia share. "Let's promote our common EU values," the EC President added.

Posting on social network X, European Commission Executive Vice-president Maros Sefcovic wished Pellegrini a successful term, which, according to him, is necessary in particular "in these times of extraordinary challenges, when we need a strong, prosperous Europe and a strong, prosperous Slovakia“.

Also congratulating Peter Pellegrini were Polish President Andrzej Duda and Austrian head of state, Alexander Van der Bellen. Polish counterpart expressed hope that he and his new Slovak counterpart will be able to maintain the traditionally good cooperation while Van der Bellen looks forward to constructive cooperation.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán congratulated Peter Pellegrini on his “sovereign victory in the Slovak presidential election”. Orbán wrote on the social network that “it is a great victory for the people and a great victory for the advocates of peace throughout Europe!”.
