Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok and opposition MP Milan Majerský agreed on potentially creating new constituencies. Opposition party KDH is in favour of eight constituencies, which will be determined by the borders of self-governing regions. SaS does not agree with this ambition and appeals to KDH not to succumb to Smer-SD and Hlas-SD. PS party stated that in the long term they are not opposed to a discussion about a new electoral system but it needs to be taken into account who is proposing it. If a multi-mandate system were to be introduced in Slovakia, the influence of individual party leaders would be limited. Experts warn that one of the disadvantages of this new system would be that a system with several constituencies is sensitive to abiding the equality of electorship.
