Oil supplies to Slovakia and Hungary are not threatened, sanctions do not apply

The European Commission has announced that oil supplies to Slovakia and Hungary are not immediately threatened by Ukrainian sanctions against Lukoil. According to information from the Hungarian company MOL, the oil on the Russian-Ukrainian border becomes the property of commercial companies and is not subject to sanctions, pointed out EU Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis. Slovakia and Hungary have complained that the sanctions are disrupting their supplies of Russian oil and threatening security of supply. However, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says the sanctions do not threaten Slovakia's energy security. The EC said urgent consultations with Kiyv were not necessary and reminded the countries that they could use the JANAF pipeline from Croatia.
