On Monday, President Peter Pellegrini appointed Pavol Gašpar as the new Director of the Slovak Information Service (SIS). Prior to his appointment, Pavol Gašpar served as Deputy Director of the intelligence agency and previously held the position of State Secretary at the Ministry of Justice.
During the appointment ceremony, President Pellegrini emphasized that the SIS must serve the interests of the state and not those of politicians or any other individuals who might attempt to influence or exploit its work. He also stressed the importance of maintaining effective oversight mechanisms for the activities of the SIS at the parliamentary and governmental levels, as well as through other state bodies. Pellegrini also expressed his desire for the SIS to create a sense of security among citizens.
