Minister of Culture, Martina Šimkovičová, has removed Branislav Panis from his role as Director-General of the Slovak National Museum (SNM) on Monday, September 30. Spokesperson for the Culture Ministry, Petra Bačinská, cited "multiple managerial failures" as the reason for his dismissal. Panis had served in the position since 2016, overseeing significant projects such as the renovation of Spiš Castle and Krásna Hôrka Castle. This follows the minister’s recent dismissal of other cultural leaders, including the directors of the Slovak National Theatre and the Slovak National Gallery, which as of Monday, September 30 removed newly appointed Anton Bittner from his position as the interim head of the Slovak National Gallery.
